One of the most popular anabolic steroids is Winstrol, also known as Stanozolol. It is so popular because it is used during cutting cycles to give the body a lean hard look. While some claim that it also has fat loss properties, this is a myth that has come about because of how lean and hard it makes muscles look. The alternative steroid, Anavar, is much more expensive and so most users turn to Winstrol when they are trying to get shredded. Winstrol is also much easier to obtain compared with Anavar.
Winstrol is what is known as a 17 alpha-alkylated (17aa) steroid, meaning it has had a modification to the A ring made so that it can pass through the liver without being broken down. This is why many oral steroids are considered dangerous to the liver, though Winstrol is one of the least dangerous in this regard. An interesting difference with stanozolol is that is it produced both as an oral steroid and an injectable. This is unusual among steroids, and unlike other injectables, stanozolol liquid can be drank and will give the same effects.
One benefit to taking Winstrol is that it is a DHT steroid, which means it will not convert to estrogen in the body. This avoids the issue of secondary female characteristics such as gynecomastia developing.
Another unique property of the steroid stanozolol is that it can lower the amount of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) in the body more than any other anabolic steroid available. This makes it great as a stack with other steroids because SHBG normally binds with the same receptors as anabolic steroids, making them less effective. This is not an issue when Winstrol is added to the mix.
An optimal dosage of Winstrol would be 40-100mgs per day for men or 5-20mgs per day for women, with the upper end of that range reserved for female bodybuilders and fitness competitors. Whether it is taken orally or injected the dosage remains the same.
One of the more common side effects of taking stanozolol is a drying of the joints, which can become painful, especially when heavy weights are used. For this reason most users will only use Winstrol during a cutting cycle when weights are lighter. During heavier bulking cycles the heavy weights lifted and overall bodyweight gain make it a poor choice.
Using some form of supplementation to protect the joints when using stanozolol is a normal precaution. A combination of msm, chondroitin, glucosamine and calcium is typical and some throw in collagen or vitamin C as well. Using a joint support supplement regimen such as this should alleviate most joint issues when on stanozolol. Another issue is the liver toxicity. Even though Winstrol is not as liver toxic as other steroids it is still a good idea to use supplements to help protect your liver when using stanozolol, or any anabolic steroid for that matter.
As a cutting steroid Winstrol is almost as good as they come, with only Anavar possibly being better.
